Let's learn English!

Still remember something that was thought by someone (which unfortunately I couldnt remember who) to me before... I think it's sasu peeps in Monash.

It's just how u can "make up" ur english to make it more english-like. ahaks..

It is about the articles.

To make ur sentence look nicer, dont forget to decorate your sentences with articles before the nouns:
1) "a"
- this is for singular noun, a non-distinctive noun. (a.k.a tak khusus, apa2 pun boleh jadi.)
a book = buku mana2 pun boleh dimaksudkan....
example: "I can finish reading A book in an hour". "give me a reason why I should not go". "A man was killed in an accident at the corner of my school".
mistakes: i love reading book. i have cat at home.

2) "The"
- this is called definite article. (khusus...)

CORE-MEANING: a determiner, the definite article, used before a noun denoting somebody or something that has already been mentioned or identified, or something that is understood by both the speaker and hearer, as distinct from 'a' or 'an'
Encarta ® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1998-2005 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

example: "The moon is looking very beautiful tonight". "A man was killed in the accident" (kalau tahu accident apa yg berlaku....kalau x kena describe dlu accident tu...baru jadi "the")
"you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen".
mistakes: moon is pretty. you are most beautiful woman.

3) plural nouns
- the (if definite/distinct) or no "a" infront.
example: i love to read books. "i love to read [the] books written by Enid Blyton". "The cats have not eaten to night". "Cats have paws".

Example of combinations:

An accident happened this morning between 2 cars at Telung Road. It involved a white and a grey car. The white car was reported to have lost control, skidded and crashed into the grey car which was coming from the opposite lane. A 30-year-old man was killed in the accident, while two were badly injured. The cars were then towed away instantly to prevent heavy traffics.

an accident --> the accident
a white - the white
a grey - the grey
the opposite lane = a definite thing..
the cars = white+grey cars
heavy traffics = plural nouns...

tadaaa...
hope that helps!
practice makes perfect!
ignorance = failure..
